Silver Sky by J. D. Allen

I can honestly say that J. D. Allen writes some entertaining stories. I’ve liked everything I’ve read so far. Silver Sky is no exception. I love that he spends time on the story and not so much on the massive buildup of what’s to come. Sometimes that’s what we need or want to read. A quick, enjoyable horror story. Allen falls into that category perfectly.

The world is struck by some weird phenomena called Silver Sky Syndrome. People are inflicted with this illness that causes them to experience losing gravity. They float up into the sky, slowly. But then there is more that happens and I don’t want to share the ending. Such a strange and enjoyable story.

Go on and grab a copy of this story, or put it on the tbr to get to it later. It’s worth the afternoon reading the book.

It features stories from some of your favorite authors, as well as new-to-you voices. Brian Keene writes the foreword. He discusses the act of love and how it unites us all. The power of love is one action that helps Scares that Care be successful. The stories are about cryptids, human horrors, empty towns, ghosts, and historical horror. It is a unique blend of different horrors. It would be hard to choose one favorite out of this collection. Every single story was enjoyable, and it introduced me to authors I had not heard of before. I definitely recommend this to all horror lovers. There is something for everyone.

Lulu Mayo teaches us how to draw some of the cutest little cat things. It starts out with a section of using a color wheel. I love the title of one of them "Pawsitively Pretty Pastels". From there on, the author shows up 101 ways to draw a cat. Such as a cat dragon, a mushroom cat, a cat cabbage, and cats drawn as zodiac signs! Even if you don't draw all of the cats, this is definitely a must-have for all cat lovers!

The Deading by Nicholas Belardes

This is genuinely a wonderful story. The Deading is one of the best pieces of literary horror I have read. It guides you through so many emotions and inner demons of all the characters. From the young to the old, The Deading highlights the differences of what age and time can do to change the strengths and compassion of an individual. While priorities are always different when we grow older, the basic need to survive and to be loved… never changes. Belardes reminds us that even though we have faults, we are each unique and have the capabilities to survive difficulties and come out stronger and better. This is a strong character-driven narrative with some ornithology, creature features, and suspense. Under the watchful eye of the government, a small sea-side town tries to survive an infliction upon them. The people are changing. The once quiet and calm town has become a ruthless and dangerous community. The anxiety and stress of living in this changed town takes a toll on so ...
