La Petite Mort by Eli Wilde, self published

I really enjoy the writing of Eli Wilde. He is another author that once introduced to me, I had to grab his other stories as soon as I could. You might have seen his other book recently, The Scent of Liver, which is fantastic by the way. If you like some light-horror poetry, definitely put this on the TBR!

This book is strictly poetry. It has themes of blood, death, love and sadness.

Rufus Hobster, a vampire, is also a poet. In this little book of poetry, we spend time with Rufus and how he views life living as a vampire. Along his journey, he meets Elise, who he quickly falls in love with. Filled with words straight from Rufus’ heart to paper, we read how the relationship evolves from needing Elise next to him at all times, to an ending where he is left all alone.

This summer, Rufus Hobster will have the first of a novel trilogy released. The second novel will be released in the summer of 2024. I’m looking forward to this!

All proceeds from this book will be given to the Scares that Care program. This anthology is a collection of 23 stories and poetry. Each author has a section of Virginia to set their story in. This collection of stories takes readers to the darkest corners of the Old Dominion, where secrets and horrors await. It features stories from some of your favorite authors, as well as new-to-you voices. Brian Keene writes the foreword. He discusses the act of love and how it unites us all. The power of love is one action that helps Scares that Care be successful. The stories are about cryptids, human horrors, empty towns, ghosts, and historical horror. It is a unique blend of different horrors. It would be hard to choose one favorite out of this collection. Every single story was enjoyable, and it introduced me to authors I had not heard of before. I definitely recommend this to all horror lovers. There is something for everyone.

Lulu Mayo teaches us how to draw some of the cutest little cat things. It starts out with a section of using a color wheel. I love the title of one of them "Pawsitively Pretty Pastels". From there on, the author shows up 101 ways to draw a cat. Such as a cat dragon, a mushroom cat, a cat cabbage, and cats drawn as zodiac signs! Even if you don't draw all of the cats, this is definitely a must-have for all cat lovers!

The Deading by Nicholas Belardes

This is genuinely a wonderful story. The Deading is one of the best pieces of literary horror I have read. It guides you through so many emotions and inner demons of all the characters. From the young to the old, The Deading highlights the differences of what age and time can do to change the strengths and compassion of an individual. While priorities are always different when we grow older, the basic need to survive and to be loved… never changes. Belardes reminds us that even though we have faults, we are each unique and have the capabilities to survive difficulties and come out stronger and better. This is a strong character-driven narrative with some ornithology, creature features, and suspense. Under the watchful eye of the government, a small sea-side town tries to survive an infliction upon them. The people are changing. The once quiet and calm town has become a ruthless and dangerous community. The anxiety and stress of living in this changed town takes a toll on so ...
